The results of the advocacy campaign for the creation of the service “Assistant to a person with a mental disorder”

Throughout 2024, under the auspices of the League of the Strong public union, we advocated for the creation of the Assistant to a Person with a Mental Disorder service. It was a very active year. We have learned a lot and grown as a non-governmental organization. Now the project is over and we want to summarize our achievements in this post.

The purpose of the advocacy campaign for the creation of the “Assistant to a person with a mental disorder” service was to:

🎯 to raise awareness of local authorities in Kyiv about the needs of people with mental disorders

🎯 to facilitate the decision-making process on the creation of the “Assistant to a person with a mental disorder” service

As part of the advocacy project, we have taken the following important steps:

🎉 studied the level of satisfaction of people with mental disorders with medical and social services received in the community of Kyiv

🎉 publicly presented the results of the study at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine

🎉 discussed proposals for the creation of the service “Assistant to a person with a mental disorder” in a round table format

🎉 presented the roundtable resolution at the meeting of the Standing Committee on Health, Family and Social Policy of the Kyiv City Council

🎉 met with the leadership of the Department of Social and Veteran Policy of the Kyiv City State Administration

🎉 discussed the specifics of the “Assistant to a person with a mental disorder” service with Maryna Poroshenko, Head of the Kyiv City Council Standing Committee on Health, Family and Social Policy
