- 2017
Our story began back in 2017 within the walls of the Center for Medical and Social Rehabilitation at the municipal non-profit enterprise Psychiatry Clinical Hospital in Kyiv. At that time, the Center had a group for relatives of people with mental disorders.
- 2019
On July 5, 2019, two trainees from the Center for Medical and Social Rehabilitation founded non-governmental organisation Psychability.
- 2021
We filmed a documentary film, «Out of the Closed Circle», which tells about rehabilitation of people with mental disorders as an alternative to them living in psychoneurological boarding houses.
- 2024
We began to actively develop and promote the idea of creating the service «Assistant for a person with mental disorders» in Kyiv.
- 2000
Today, we are a community of mental health professionals and over 40 families with people with mental health disorders.
“Psychability” is about the abilities of the soul
The name of the organization «Psychability» is a creative collaboration of its two components.
The first part ‘psycho’ (ψυχή) in translation from Greek means ‘soul’. The second part ‘ability’ (ability) in English means ‘possibility’.

Why Us?
Biopsychosocial Rehabilitation Model
We view our clients primarily as individuals and masters of their illness. During rehabilitation, we take into account three groups of factors that influence the health of clients, namely:
• biological: heredity, predisposition to certain diseases, metabolic disorders, organic pathologies, environmental influences;
• psychological: character, attitude towards oneself, relationships with family and friends, the attitude of the client and his loved ones to the illness;
• social: communication skills, independence in society, the ability to solve their problems.
Multidisciplinary approach
We follow a versatile approach in working with clients. The more areas of their lives are involved, the more effective the rehabilitation is. Work with the client is carried out according to the following plan:
• identifying the client's real needs;
• drawing up an individual rehabilitation plan;
• involving diverse specialists in rehabilitation (psychiatrist, psychologist, nurse, social worker);
• involving the client's relatives or trusted persons in rehabilitation.
Experience of studying abroad
We adapted European case-management programs to the rehabilitation conditions of clients at all levels of psychiatric care in Kyiv (family doctor, district psychiatrist, inpatient treatment, Mental Health Center, Territorial Center of Social Services).
Practical Experience
Our specialists have over 20 years of experience in rehabilitating people with mental disorders of varying degrees of severity, supporting their families, and protecting their rights.
