On August 30, a briefing was held on the Suspilny TV channel, dedicated to the next stage of the implementation of the service "Assistant for persons with mental disorders".

This time, a group of specialists presented an interactive presentation of a study of the level of satisfaction with medical and social services received in the community by persons with mental disorders, which was conducted by the public organization "Psychability".

The survey showed that 56 percent of people with mental disorders subjectively assess the level of their skills in four areas as low or extremely low. 69% demonstrate low or extremely low activity in searching for relevant services. 81% of respondents rate the quality of services received as extremely low, or do not receive them at all.

In the speeches, it was noted that unlike somatic diseases, most mental disorders often lead to significant disturbances in the emotional and volitional sphere of the psyche, which leads to a significant deterioration of the skills of information search, choice, acceptance of choices and their implementation. Therefore, even if there is a sufficient amount of social services in the community, it is often problematic to use them under such conditions.

The subjective opinion of a person with mental disorders about the possible influence of an individual assistant on improving independent living skills in various areas and improving the quality of life (average score of 2.2 “rather yes”, according to the survey) gives reason to believe that the respondents have a rather high need for service "Assistant for persons with mental disorders". Therefore, the research team believes that in our conditions, the introduction of the appropriate service will help to overcome the barrier between a person and the services he needs. And this will significantly help in solving the problem.
