The Association of Psychiatrists of Ukraine (Kyiv)
The Association of Psychiatrists of Ukraine is a non-governmental organisation established in 1991 in Kyiv as an alternative to the relevant department of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The board of the Association has identified the creation of the first law on psychiatric care in our country as its main priority.
The organization works in the fields of rule-making, implementing research projects, and information and publishing activities.
In 1999, the Association of Psychiatrists of Ukraine, the Castalia and Vita charitable foundations, and a foreign partner, the Geneva Initiative in Psychiatry International Foundation, prepared a project to involve professionals, patients, and their relatives in the development and implementation of new approaches to the rehabilitation of individuals with mental disorders. As a result, a unique Center for Medical and Social Rehabilitation was created. The Center worked as a structural division of the municipal non-profit enterprise Psychiatry Clinical Hospital in Kyiv until June 2022. Today, the Center has ceased to exist due to a lack of state funding. But its specialists have joined Psychability and continue to work as part of our team.
Within the framework of cooperation, both organizations participate in a research project together with the Newham Center for Mental Health (London, Great Britain).
